In Korean language, “bonchon” means “my hometown,” and the idea of serving food that tastes like home is the very philosophy upon which the Bonchon Chicken restaurant chain was built. Their founder, Jinduk Seh, wanted to bring the taste of Korea to the world, choosing the delicious and ubiquitous Korean-style fried chicken as the comfort food to showcase internationally.

Mr. Seh spent years perfecting the preparation and cooking techniques that are now used at Bonchon restaurants around the world. These include the making of their unique fried food glazing, which is imbued with the quintessential flavors of Korean cuisine: soy, garlic, and spicy. In 2002, his first restaurant opened in the southern coastal city of Busan in Korea, and four years later, in 2006, his first overseas branch opened in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Bonchon arrived in the Philippines in 2011, quickly becoming one of the most well-known Korean-style quick service restaurants in the country. Today, there are almost 200 Bonchon branches throughout the archipelago, and there are many more across Asia, the Middle East, and the United States.
