The Top Summer Destinations for Different Types of Travelers

We’re all looking forward to the Summer vacation with family and friends, but every person is a different kind of traveler, so there’s bound to be some differences when you’re planning your trip. To help you out we put together a list of the top destination spots for the 6 most common types of travelers: The Daredevil Traveler, The Beach Bum, The Spontaneous Daytripper, The Anthony Bourdain traveler, The Culture Junkie, and finally, The Staycationer.

THE DAREDEVIL TRAVELER: BADIAN, CEBU

You’ve been seeing too many photos of other people doing this on your news feed, now, it’s your turn to jump. Canyoneering is a type of sport where you explore the ravines between cliffs or the rifts between two peaks, often involving abseiling, climbing, walking, and swimming. If you’re a real daredevil adventurer, you will love exploring between the stunning Kawasan Falls and Montaneza falls, and traveling down streams, and creeks, a combo breaker for both the land trekkers and water babies alike.

THE BEACH BUM: SIARGO, SURIGAO DEL NORTE

Siargo is usually known as surfer’s paradise, but it can just as well be said so for the laid-back beach bum. It’s an island full of perfect white beaches, lovely lagoons, and smaller mangroves and islands where you can kayak and explore marine reserves. There are no loud parties, no trash, no restaurants and vendors overcrowding the shore and over your peace–just stretches of sand, countless coconut palm trees, and quaint beachfront huts where you can relax and eat fresh seafood. We recommend booking at least more than two nights, because we’re 100% sure you’ll want to close your eyes and stay forever.

THE SPONTANEOUS DAYTRIPPER: TAGAYTAY

For the “balikan lang” gang, there’s nothing like hitting the SkyRanch in Tagaytay for their amusement rides, especially the Sky Eye, the country’s second tallest ferris wheel. It’s a weekend escape for those seeking cooler climates with a view. You have the popular Cliffhouse restaurants to dine in afterwards, but we recommend to visit Balay Dako, the Antonio Group’s newest restaurant along the Tagaytay-Nasugbu highway. It features indoor and outdoor dining and a breathtaking view of Taal Lake. The experience is so surreal that people get up at 5am just to drive up Tagaytay and have a weekend breakfast buffet at Balay Dako.

THE ANTHONY BOURDAIN TRAVELER

Anthony Bourdain is a celebrity chef and TV host who is well- known for documenting his unique and hole-in-the-wall culinary adventures around the world. There’s just too many places to choose from so we’ll just put this list here for you to decide. Authentic Chicken Inasal in Aida’s Chicken at Iloilo. Sincerity Fried Chicken in Binondo.  Sigarilyas sa Gata and Crispy Daing (with a side of bagnet) from Wooden Spoon. The best Crispy Pata from Livestock in Tomas Morato. Duck Egg Ensaimadas from Suklati Batirul. Homegrown, milk-fed marinated and roasted goat in Malagos Garden Resort in Davao. For nightlovers who are into music and casual drinking, hit Balete in Kamias Q.C, 12 Monkeys in Century Mall, the Bank Bar in Bonifacio Global City, or Curator or ABV in Makati for some solidt speakeasy cocktails.

THE CULTURE JUNKIE: BENCAB MUSEUM, BAGUIO

The BenCab Museum is located in Asin Road in Tuba, Benguet and houses the art collections of Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, our National Artist for Visual Arts. Plenty of the collections showcase Cordillera culture, its traditions and its practices through sculptures, artifacts, and print mediums. One of the highlights is the Bul’ul (rice gods) installations which represent the Bu’lul, powerful guardians of crops responsible for successful and plentiful harvest. The has 4 levels, 9 galleries, a farm, a lovely garden, and an endearing cafe, an ensemble reminiscent of the authentic old Baguio experience.

Heaven means room service, spa, and that relaxing hotel vibe with some wine. Some people just want to get away and not have to think about vacation itineraries. There are plenty of hotels you can choose from, but really the best way to search for the best buck for your taste is to go through popular hotel search engines like Agoda, Trivago, or Airbnb for those who are looking for more unique and local experiences.
