Wealth Development Bank Corporation traces its origins from Danao City Development Bank. In 1967, the Central Bank of the Philippines granted Danao City Development Bank a thrift bank license and the authority to operate. Back then, this single-branch thrift bank had equity participation by the Land Bank of the Philippines and Development Bank of the Philippines. In 2001, Wealth Development Bank was realized through the acquisition of Danao City Development Bank by VISCAL Development Corporation.
In 2016, Wealth Development Bank became a subsidiary of Woori Bank—the oldest and 2nd largest bank of South Korea. This merger placed the bank at a unique position as a Philippines-based local thrift bank that had global reach. Today, Wealth Development Bank has 25 branches strategically located throughout the county, and is planning to open more branches. Wealth Development Bank offers a variety of personal and business banking services like consumer loans, fund boosters, and business loans. Their main office is located in Cebu.
