As of 2015, it was estimated that only 1% of payments were made online or about 26 million out of 2.5 billion payments made per month. This is according to a diagnostic conducted by Better Than Cash Alliance, which is a global partnership of companies, governments and international organizations.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) aims to increase this figure to at least 20% by the end of 2020. Upon reaching this number, the BSP estimates that there will be a faster rate of adoption of digital and other contactless payment solutions.
Thankfully, e-wallets like PayMaya have made it easier for Filipino consumers to go cashless. Factoring in the increasing internet accessibility and lower smartphone prices, it’s safe to say that many more Filipinos will use digital payments in the future. This includes payment methods for both online and in-store shopping.
The PayMaya QR #ScanToPay feature is a convenient way to pay partner merchants simply by scanning their QR code using the PayMaya app.
With the PayMaya #ScanToPay feature, anyone can easily scan to pay in stores, to online sellers, and even for delivery orders. Our partner merchants include various retail establishments, fast food companies, supermarkets, and more! One of PayMaya’s most well-known supermarket partners is Landers Superstore. They are a membership shopping supermarket, with a wide array of local and international goods. Landers currently has five branches in the Philippines: four in Metro Manila and one in Cebu. All of these branches offer PayMaya QR as a payment option for your ultimate convenience.
Aside from in-store purchases, you can also use your PayMaya account to pay for your Landers Superstore online orders. Simply visit their website, add items to your virtual cart, and select PayMaya as the payment method when you check out.
If you don’t have the PayMaya app yet, you can download it for free for iOS, Android, and Huawei devices. After registering using your mobile number, make sure to upgrade your account to enjoy even more benefits like increased transaction limits.
